Homestead Hollow

Tyler worked all day Saturday, so yesterday after church, we really wanted to do something fun as a family. We decided to change clothes and head to Homestead Hollow. Homestead Hollow is an arts and crafts festival that is held 2 or 3 times a year about an hour away from us. Other than having arts & crafts vendors, they also have demonstrations to show what life was like in the old days. They have a house set up and they also have a blacksmith area, a smokehouse, a moonshine still, and stuff like that. They even had a free babysitting service. We took full advantage of that.

It was a beautiful day, albeit a little warm.

We had such a great time and even indulged in kettle korn from my favorite Finklea family, homemade ice cream, and homemade lemonade. Brayden decided to throw an absolute fit because we wouldn't let him jump in the Mickey Mouse space bounce. That was the 2nd fit he threw in the course of 2 days. I'm not really sure how to handle him in those moments. I mean, do we leave because he's being ugly and Tyler and I have to suffer as well? Do we spank him in a huge crowd of people and draw attention to ourselves (because you know, no one was looking at us before)? Eventually Tyler reeled him in. Pretty much all he had to do was say stop the fake crying or we're leaving, you have until the count of 3, and he stopped. Good times, folks, good times! Anyway, other than that moment of insanity, we all had a really good time, enjoyed the fall weather, and enjoyed our family time.

  1. I have never been to Homestead Hollow but have always wanted to go. Gotta love those public fits.
